Waiting tonight for a whisper-
That I know will never come,
And I’m not expecting my dreams
To ever find their way back home,
Like a fairytale that’s disappearing-
Leaving only the once upon a time,
I have to face that the story is over-
And there’s no happily ever after this time.
Fairytales are written on paper hearts
And then the pages are slowly turned,
Meant to be read on the darkest of nights
When the imagination and desires brightly burn,
Where the minds eye is only open-
To a perfect world and what could be,
When the heart accepts that it is real-
Just like the last fairytale was for me.
Tonight I will stop believing in fairytales
And beautiful castles that float in the air,
I will try very hard not to capture dreams
And just walk away and leave them laying there,
For when a heart has nothing to believe in-
The mountain of disenchantment becomes easy to climb,
Leaving me only the beautiful memory-
That I loved you in a fairytale once upon a time.
