A very touching poem. You are getting through things , one day at a time. You are ever aware of what is around you and it shows by what you write and say. It takes a lot of time to get through a loss of a loved one, but you have made some BIG steps forward. You try to over come things that could hold you back.I can see a change in you and its a good one. Keep going forward. Get out , be with others ann keep writing... God Bless ,, Love,,M
Touching verse, happiness is a strong decision, we only have two, happiness and sadness, happy being the hard one, sadness being the easier one, life offers a challenge to be happy, I'm not happy because everything is going good, I'm happy because I can handle the messed up part of my life and still smile, hope your v day was great
Lois your love ones are always in your heart: you never really forget the goodness in life they shared with you. Hopefully, we all are going to go heaven someday and share that banquet with our Lord, Jesus Christ!!! And afterwards go home or around the corner to our mansions in the sky. Death is a part of life and then we rejoice. I share in your sorrow as well as your joy. Alleluia!!!
Lois, the grief will eventually pass, but you will never forget him--nor would you want to. Instead, you'll look back to the good things you shared with him while you realize he is at peace now, and you are the only one suffering. You will find a way to overcome that suffering when you let the fact that Tom would want you to be happy and at peace seep into your thoughts like a warm blanket.
Your poem puts you on the right track inasmuch as you want happiness. Now you have to choose happiness and think kindly on the past and use it as the strength to move forward one day at a time.

All you can do my dear Lois is to grieve when you feel that need so desperately...cry, laugh, write, whatever...then...enjoy something you love... til the next tough moment comes along... take it one step at a time...but don't forget to keep moving forward, and keep the joy in your heart...the more you do, the easier it will be... I used to go into my shower and cry so hard, praying that God would take me too...but that was not His plan Lois... so we must keep Him in our hearts and just stay focused as much as we can on people we love, and things we enjoy doing....even the little teensie things... I want you to be happy so much... I feel your pain..but I love your heart... hugs, lindalaw
Lois my dear time is the only thing that heals pain, love will always dwell within our hearts. Be happy and live each day to the fullest and know that others here care about you.
There are no magical formulas for grief. Each person handles them on their own timetables for better or worse and no one else has the right to demand any different of you. "You" will no when you are ready to move on with your life.
Lois, with all the determination in the world, one cannot escape the effects of mourning...and that is as it should be...there are stages one must go through, but once the first year is over it gets better little by little. Your heart-felt writing is always reaching out to others who may empathize with you and feel not so alone.
Happiness awaits at every turn, Lois, and if you can enjoy nature's glory, you're on your way to recovery.
Sadness will be with you, but so will be joy.
I must sound pompous and preaching -- it's just that I went into deep mourning in 2003, 2005, and 2007. Those losses are with me, relentlessly..it does take time.
Keep up the good work you do here at the den, and many prayers will be with you as well as thanks!
