A dawn like any other

A dawn strewn in dew drops and light
Portent of a day of beauty and grace
Gently clearing the shadows of night
Freeing earth from darkness’ embrace
A choir of birds sing a salute serenade
Weaving melodies with appearing hues
Persuading life and light to syncopate
Compassionately offering them to fuse
And as dawn changes to become day

A beautiful child comes out to play

On the lawn in front of her house
She joins the concert of the birds
That watch her from the boughs
Interlacing chirps with her words
A soft caress to the ears of God
Who embraces her in His heart
She is the chosen one He sought
The precious soul He will guard
On her flight in time and space
The little girl with an angel face

Less than half a block away
A man without a face waits
In his dusty black Chevrolet
He unwearyingly anticipates
The moves of the young child
As she taps toward the street
He started the car and smiled
As he drove it with great speed
Over the girl who died right away
While the Chevy rocketed away

God ripped out His heart in pain
While satan celebrated the slay
Abruptly ending the birds’ refrain
Silencing the vow of a beautiful day
As skies above earth turned black
Sleet lashed life and thunder broke
Storms demolished all on their track
The world we know starts to choke
This day that started out in majesty
Became a rotting ulcer in history

The child had met her killer before
They fought since the dawn of time
As sworn enemies form days of yore
In a war between dusk and sublime
For a moment this world had staged
A battle of a war it can not assume
Dwarfing all the wars it had waged
Observing the unforgiving doom
That will once come to this place
To obliterate all beautiful days

Rage of Reason

It is interesting how that this child had met her killer before. Another write from divine intellegence.

rare & what a twist, made the first part suddenly real & possible
& of course the finale, taken for granted we live in a sick world

Powerful writing here, Rage, and don't think that the metaphors, etc., went unnoticed. Why, however, would you put the poem on a black background and with dim, blue words which is hard to read unless you lighlight them, is something only you understand. Never understood why poets seem to think their poems will be received better if they play around with its presentation. Good poetry will be recognized as such without all the window dressing. I think I am in the minority in my way of thinking, but still . . .

I know this is part truth for my heart wept. I know the possibility of this happening all over this world and I know, somehow...you are the witness left to prospect for the truth and lay it out as wisdom. Your words keep us alert from God's two-minute warning. I appreciate your insight, applaude your creativity and admire your heart.

Rage, I agree with Peter it is fine poetry that starts with beauty-until it meets the beast-then once more beauty survives-if we but believe! Thanks for sharing...
