Our beloved Sadie has died. It has been several weeks, but I have not been able to write the words until now.
During her last months when Sadie was nearly blind, unable to hear, or get around very well Texie, a white 'throw away cat' who came to live with us 4 years ago became Sadie's 'seeing eye cat.'
Tex waited by the door each time Sadie was let outside for her walk, she walked, guiding with her head under Sadie's chin from the door to Sadie's white blanket behind my chair each time, then she lay down beside Sadie on the blanket until she was next needed to guide her dog.
Texie has grieved for her friend from the day we buried Sadie out in the yard. Today she continues to lay on Sadie's blanket in front of the patio door and watch out the window for the friend who will not return.

I am sad for you. Sadie was a wonderful dog, I know. Our Rosie is buried up close out front. Her stone is snow-white quartz, and
pink and white azaleas surround her. Ray and I thought we wouldn't be able to stand losing another dog, so we decided that was it. Ha!
Nicky {store-bought} and Sugar {an abuse-blinded rescuee} have
c o m p l e t e l y taken over. No two are alike, are they? Say a prayer over Sadie for me. 'Pea' <3
our loved ones aren't only our family and human friends, but our friends who depend on us for food, warmth, love, a flea bath now and then. And, it is sooooo sad too, when a loved one dies, because then everyone mourns. I know how Texie feels tho, because when I had to put our collie/setter mix down, I sat and cried like a new born baby. Rocky was 19 years old. He will always be remembered, for the caring, loving friend he was, and not only a friend, but a part of the family for many years. And, I do so agree with Eileen too, when I say I KNOW pets are people too. I now have three shepard mixes, and one of them is 12 years old, and her hearing is going. It is only a matter of time before Princess leaves us. But she will always be remembered, always for the unconditional love she showed, and the way she let strangers know, you better behave or else (giggles). The or else was just to sit there and growl, but when our friends got up, she would dive under the table. Princess is the 12 year old, and she is so sweet. The other 2 are Rowdy (male) and Shadow (spayed female). We got Rowdy and Shadow 5 years ago from the Humane Society, and they have been constant companions ever since. Anyway I am rambling again. This is a very good, very poignant write about a family member, not just a friend or pet. Thnx for sharing Molly. May the Lord Jesus bless you and yours, and the soul of Sadie, because I believe our little friends have souls too, and also little Texie, whose unconditional love and friendship for Sadie will never be forgotten. May the Lord Jesus be with you always, and at your side constantly. Touching story Molly. I remember every animal I've owned going back to Sport a pointer that came into my life sixty-four years ago. He couldn't find a bird on a postage stamp. They all added a wonderful blanket of warmth and love. But now, Texie has gained another mate thanks to some stupid people.
Yes, animals really do communicate and love each other. I got my little Kiri a companion whom I named Ben. He's a setter/lab mix. They bnded instantly. One day I called them in and Kiri came tail between her legs and very upset. I asked where Ben was, and I found him stuck between the neighbor's fence and mine. One day I missed Kiri and found Ben pacing in circles in the upstairs hall. The door to the bathroom was closed. It's tiny and Kiri somehow wandered in there and shut herself in. When Ben's outsde, Kiri knows when he wants in. I have no ide how.
Once Kiri swallowed some poison. I had to give her hydrogeon proxoide. (sp) The vet told me on the phone how much to give. She threw up the poison. Ben hung his head and cried. DFogs nd cats think and feel. Maybe in ways we don't wet know

I really often think that animals have far more compassion than many of us humans do. And Texie was obviously no 'throw-away' cat; maybe she even knew an important duty awaited her.
Truly hope all of you find solace soon knowing that Sadie will live on in your hearts forever.
This is sooo saaaad! I can relate to yours and Texie's loss. It is very sad. I've lost my pet "Freddy" one and a half month ago, so I can relate to your feelings so well.
Perhaps bringing another dog into the family can give happiness for all.
