In our society, everything is disposable. Even our pets. I'm happy you saved the puppy. If all people had your goodness, the world would be a better place.

How sad, to leave a puppy like that. There are so many people who would love to adopt such a precious little one! I think your poem is lovely, MJ -- we need to bring things like this to the public's attention. Well done.

Such an adorable little thing! Those people are less stupid than cruel, no heart at all! So good that you came along, so lucky for the little thing to run into a person with the right heart!

Dear mj;

I clearly understand your feelings toward what APPEARED to have happened... but, I'm wondering... might someone have left it there, HOPING it would be found by a loving person such as you? (not that I think leaving a helpless puppy on the side of the road is a good idea... as you noted: too many dangers)

Free form is good to me! I certainly
use it in my poetry. A sad thing to
dump a puppy like that, I personally
love animals and have dogs, cats and
horses. ;)

Bless you, Molly. I remember seeing a burlap sack tied with a rope in the creek by our house when I was young. As I got closer to investigate, I saw whatever was inside was moving and I grabbed it out of the stream. Inside were 5 beautiful kittens. How can people be so heartless?

This is another very touching little poem and story. People who put their pets on the city streets, highways, or just throw them in garbage cans, should have the same the same thing done to them, only with their feet and hands tied. I believe that we must take care of our little friends who depend on us for survival. We should have the patience, care and love for them always. My cat Honey was just such a throw away. She was locked out of her house one night when it was raining. It was a very good thing that I was standing on the porch. I called for her to come by and she just came up, drenched to the bone. I took her in. She's gone now, but will never be forgotten. Thnx for sharing.

Our house in the country was the main drop off point based on animals we would get and take care of instead of leaving them to die.
Never could figure how or why people did that other than they could really put the animal down and for sure figure if they drop and house the owners would care for them.
You made a good point here

MJ this is a sad story that turned into a happy one, because of your kindness. The puppy looks so restful and secure now in the basket. God bless you Lady for this kindness. I too am a pet lover. We have three cats and a beautiful blond and white Doxie. I got the little Doxie about nine years ago at the Pet Parade put on by the animal shelter. She is epileptic but the sweetest little lady I have ever known. Then there is my three cats. One I found under the hood of my car one morning as I was going to work. The bext one
came to my door insisting on me to let him in after being put out of
the house by its owners. The last one is just a little over a year old and is an alley cat. She crawled through my fence and hid in the shed. I love animals, but I do not want over the four I have. And all of them are from someone who didn't want them and wouldn't keep them. To me God didn't intend them to die or starve in the streets, and neither. Loved this little poem. Bill Murray

ps It is one of my big worries about dying and not being here for them. That would be tragic; for I believe they would all perish quickly without me.

Reminds me of how I got my little mut, Kiri. A friend was pulling into a 7-11 when she saw a big drunk kick a 6 week old puppy. She cried and ran up to Laura. Laura picked her up and found her dirty and beginning to show signs of mange. The man told Lura the dog belonged to him. laura asked if he cared for her. He said no and to give him a dollar and she could have the dog. She gave him the money--probably for wine, but Laura took the dog home--after a trip to the vet of course. She turned out to be healthy with curable mange. Laura had a wonderful husband named Chris. But this time he said, well now you already have three dogs, two cats, a tank of fish, ten finches, a pot belly pig a son, and me. You may choose between the dog and me. So she chose to keep Chris because he could fix leaky faucets and give the dog to me. That was ten yers ago and Kiri is lying asleep at my feet tright now

Whether you have a correct poem in terms of form or not isn't important. Some poems can be formles. Some people define poems as catching a moment. You did that. Some people define poems as connecting to other people. You made a connection...

That has to be the most adorable pic I've seen in a long time!
It's people like that who should go to jail for cruelty. If they
so it to animals they do it to people too!If they didn't want it
drop it by an animal shelter, they don't even have to go in just
put it by the drop.Good work Molly!;-)

Heartless people - without souls.

Pulled into a tollbooth not long ago, toll taker had 6 pups in the booth - some moron had come flying down the highway tossing pups out the window as he drove.

Have two female cats in my home that were dumped in a dumpster by their owner, never spayed - one of them pregnant.

People now toss out pets like they do yesterday's newspaper - morons all.

Kudos to You, M. J. and Hooray to Maggie May!
