According to the AP both sides came together yesterday and gave a permanent place of rest to a newly unearthed War Between the States Soldier. It's never too late to honor their memory. He was somebody's Father;Husband;Brother;Lover;Grandfather, but what he was most of all, was the Soldier that didn't return.

Old Soldiers

Today it doesn’t matter
which side you were on-
Now both bow their heads,
as they lay at rest
your bones

Your soul? It’s been gone
for years-
But still at your grave side-
fell some well deserved
tears

From both North and South-
your coffin draped with flags-
And only You know the
real truth-
which side was your rag

I wonder if you were
watching from above-
As both sides came together-
with a showing of love

Not only was it love,
but honor and adoration-
Even for a man they never knew-
it was overwhelming appreciation

We can only imagine,
the real fight that you fought-
the hardships you faced-
the suffering this war brought

While your name still a mystery,
your service is proud and true -
So we thank you Soldier,
for doing what Soldiers do

Good point, well made. A war in which we killed our brothers. It included the bloodiest day in our history (Antietam).

I don't know the story, but a simple monument where he was found would do. Modern day boy soldiers act out a terrible, brutal war as though it were[and is] a Sunday afternoon diversion.

Lisa,

Thank you for honoring those who serve(d) - beautifully moving, compassionate tribute to the Civil War Soldier, whose legacy is carried on even now, with our men and women fighting for what they think is right. Well done.

Nice seeing you again, you've been missed.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

An excellent tribute to the Civil War soldier, which directly speaks for those in more recent times. Well done, Lisa

Thank you, Lisa for this wonderful tribute. There is no one who deserves tribute and honor more than a soldier that was MIA for so many generations. Though we may never know his name, his memory will be honored as one of our nations "Unknown Soldiers." I was so excited to see that you had posted and as touched by your words as always.
Take care,
Sherry
