So many times
in the world of dreams
I try to find my way
Searching, seeking; always
prying behind closed doors
What is it that I look for,
and cannot ever find
Tenacious is the search,
frustrating and wearisome
Floors of buildings,
doors of room after room;
Street signs that disappear
Telephone numbers that refuse
to sequence, and directories
that jumble their names
I wander the streets of unknown
cities, not knowing where to turn
Turning nonetheless, I circle back to
where I've been; yet not where
I seek to be
And there is work to do here
Is why I want to believe
And just that. I must challenge the way, however, beware
Any more,
and to watch out
For being here, for I cannot stop,
as I could
As my time in a weak soul
Can gasp the void of perpetually.
