My father passed away March 22nd after a long illness.
like a sandpiper scurrying upon the sand
chasing back the elusive sea
tried to hold him within my hand
a free spirit he'd always flee
sun rises in an ink blue sky
kissing good bye the night
the moon hesitates
pausing within sight
the tide rolls in and the tide rolls out
he no longer struggles to breathe the air
wondering what life was all about
oft times nothing seemed fair
he did his best
conflicted within himself
resulted in fluctuating life's test
silently I place his ashes upon the shelf
My condolences, I lost my father to Vietnam related cancer in 1993. It took me 15 years to put his loss to words. This is a very visual and well penned work.
Stay well and keep writing

Hi KG
You've written such beautiful words. You have my sympathy for his passing. Be well, Liz
With deepest sympathy at the loss of your father. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you slowly heal. All the fine memories to be once again embraced as he watches over you from above....
I extend my deepest symapthy to you. You express your feelings and the tribute to your father very effectively via your verses. Love and best wishes to you,
OH, KG; I am soooo sorry for your loss! May God be with you during this time of grief; you (and your family) are definitely in my prayers and thoughts! May God give you the peace and comfort that passes all understanding!
(I lost my big, strong daddy last year; it will be one year on May 28 of this year; he was 77; he would have been 78 in October. I miss him so much!!!!)
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :( >tears! <
Let this coming of age story of a boy named Bean take you back to a simple time. Set in a small southern town in the 1960's, encircled by a river and gleaming white cotton fields.
