Nature is so often "in tune" with one's moods; or it could be the other way around.
Bleeding October
October bleeds From mist-drenched trees Within the fog of late afternoon ‘Ere dismal dusk Heralds the dark That will hide all The bleeding Has begun Maple, aspen, birch Once golden Now crimson All are bleeding now Their leaves Feed the soil Thirsty for their blood Reminds me Of me Bleeding From countless soul wounds My spirit so weakened I barely want to speak to Anyone Let alone see Anyone Lest the bleeding be contagious I wish it upon no one else This bleeding October
LIFE! ONE HAS GOTTA-GO-THRU OCTOBER TO GET TO...SPRING! I MEAN, THAT'S JUST THE FACTS. AND I KNOW IT'S NOT EASY WHILE ONE IS 'WITHSTANDING' AND REACHING TO 'BETTER DAYS'. BUT, ISN'T IT MARVELOUS WHEN WE CAN 'LOOK BACK' AND REVEL IN ALL WE'VE PERSEVERED AND, IN SPITE OF IT ALL, WE ARE...STILL HERE? THUS, BLEEDING OCTOBER CARRIES IT OWN KIND OF SPECIAL BEAUTY AS IT PREPARES THE WAY FOR...JOYOUS MAY! AMEN. ENJOYED. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS
I absolutely love the image you chose for this poem. It is beautiful. Wish it was bigger though so I can really taken it all in.
Interesting how you chose to write the poem in a color that matches the image. That's creative in my opinion.
The poem is lovely. I can tell that you love nature and that you are inspired by it.
I do agree with your phrase "Nature is so often "in tune" with one's moods". That is often the case and it works the other way around as well. Our mood and nature seem to be interconnected in some way.
I love October. The change of colors, crimson is breathtaking and beautifully detailed in this poem, and it is poetically reflected on us as another year draws to an end.
This ending makes me think you DO want to speak to someone and all of the poems you write like this are crying out for that. It sounds like depression, yet your write these amazing poems, then add on these sad endings, so that it is almost as if you can't get away from that part of you that bleeds to have someone understand. It is sad. Michelle
The worst wounds are those of the soul. It takes a long time before they heal. Sometimes you think that they have stopped bleeding, and all of a sudden, they bleed again. But eventually, everything comes to an end, even pain.
I like the way you insist on how these wounds may become secret, hidden behind shame, pride, fear or discouragement, the possibilities are many.
Nice work with the colors of the trees and the bleeding of one's heart.
Well written Regis. something about autumn...This bleeding October. ...I always see autumn as a death and rebirth preface to the winter season. Thank you.
A great poem for those of us who are weather and season sensitive, or who have been wounded. Good images.

This is so unique and it left me breathless at the end thinking of the pain amidst such beauty. I imagine most of us have been there in some month or two feeling that way and not wanting it to affect someone else. Thanks again, Regis. love from Meredith
I always loved the fall - I had held this image as though nature mourned for us. "Lest the bleeding be contagious..." I love that line. The picture of the woods resembles a wounded soul...reminded me of a pool of blood.
Hey my dear brother, I agree with all of what's left of my scarred soul. My soul bleeds 24/7, and it doesn't even have to be October. This is a very good sould searching piece Regis. Thnx for sharing. Oh! and btw, I am ok, just not feeling well. But not feeling well is a constant that never lets me down. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, stubborn to a fault, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your still sad and terrified little sister, Barbie

I like your style of writing poems. Regis. The imagery in this poemis super. Autumn is sometimes a political season when some interest-hunting groups start defecting to another party, like leaves falling from a tree during autumn. Excellent poem

The photo here is one of the most beautiful I've seen. Did you take it? I love autumn ... Remember that blood gives life. May all your wounds be healed.
November does fast approach, buy a bandaid and a bottle of bourbon, together these should make you forget any bleeding...I love that pic, though Regis...Find peace, Ed & Rufuz

An interesting conception of autumn. Wonderfully descriptive and a great imagination. I feel your emotion and pain and could relate to the mood.
Hope your bleeding October turns into a healing November :)

Great image - life bleeding out of the trees into the Earth. The fall can seem melancholy (bloody melancholy if you live in northern England, although this one has been good)but everything has to die so that it can be reborn. In your image of blood being shed did you have the myths of the sun king laying down his life at the end of his season in mind? If so, it is an intersting presentation of it.
best
Ian
Oh what a very powerful image you paint with this lovely creation, the picture is so beautiful, and fits this poem so very well, outstanding Regis, so very moving and deeply poignant. You captured this so very well,
fall is a very beautiful time of the year, regis,
and you capture it here in word and image.

Beautiful Picture and I love your poem It's so unique and love the "philosophy" of the leaves falling from the trees. although I must say I'm very sad to hear about you seeing and feeling like bleeding and not the Beauty that the colors have to give and the colors of you!
Take care Regis and Please Be Happy! It can be and will an adjustment of the inner attitude. I hope for you to be well. This has gone on tooooooo long now.
Keep singing with the trees that sing. Think it's the Ash I always called the singing tree. Looked like it was singing when I was a wee tot and to this day I hear all trees sing and see that tree singing too that never left my minds eye in all these decades. See the beauty Hear the songs and sing along, Mon Ami!

Hugs, then winter gives us the rest that we need as we spring into new lives that we could never envision.
Regis, this masterpiece you've penned is my new Autumn fav. I have very mixed emotions about the season, and here you have captured the darker and more painful of those to a "t" - it is my wish for you and all of us that we move as painlessly as possible through fall, able to appreciate the beauty of letting go in order to begin anew. Dawn
Regis this is both spectacular and sorrowful! the photo is gorgeous, the poem matches beautifully the broken bloodied heart adds the tears making this an awesome poem!Be well!
A poem from the heart, Regis, though I tend to see the vivid colors of Autumn as a celebration, when nature shows off her amazing talents with all of her blazing beauty. Her big harrah before she beds down all her children to rest up through the winter. It is sad to know that you are drawing yourself inward, but sometimes that is the only pathway to introspection and rebirth.
Take care,
Sherry
Oh, Regis, a phenomenal poem. So often our struggles produce good art and that is a blessing to us and everyone that we have the ability to produce good art from our pain. Hold on to that. Much love to you, my friend. And thank you for being faithful to me with your review of my recently posted article. You are so supportive. ~~Nordette
I can only echo Jerry and Sage, Regis. You have plumbed these depths with clarity and honesty, and the result is crystal. You bleed a sacred sweat here, and we are wracked with pain with and for you. You have so much soul and courageous openness that I can't think that this is any other than from your heart. As such, there is little we can, on one level, do to appease your personal pain. May your pathway be hallowed and bring you to higher ground. Some things just have to be walked through and there are no short cuts (ouch!) Visual is a fantastic match to your words and your compassion and care, notwithstanding your own wounding, is heartwrending. The result is beautiful poetry, Regis, making your pen fly, as Floria Kelderhaus always used to say. My love, thoughts and prayers are with you to carry you along. May you truly know the peace that "passes all understanding". LOL Kate xx
BLEEDING OCTOBER is like a brilliant oil painting of a wounded soul, both heartbreakingly beautiful and mesmerisingly (or should one say poetically) sad. Enjoyed the read tremendously.
Lovely expression of the human condition known as pain. Lest we forget the beauty of the season...we can always look forward to the miraculous renewal of spring.
Ah, Regis, I see fall not as a 'bleed' or 'wound' but as the season to shed the 'old.' Let those who love you be the bandage that encircles your wounds, heals your weary heart and cradles your head/tears upon their shoulders. May I be one of the first?
Beautiful art and poem ... though the words ooze sadness.

Oh but this is the way autumn should be viewed - as all in nature is dying! We tend to see it as pretty, a cultural blunder, to be sure. Thanks for giving us nature's death as it's meant to be told. Thanks!

Oh, this is so sad. I hope you are alright. I have serious depression, but this is the first autumn I've felt good. It's because my psychiatrist loaded me up on the right medication. Wonderfully written words here, Regis.

You have a crisp soul in this month of October, Regis. A bleeding October it may be, but a pure, crystal November and December is on its way. May the blood of your soul transform into the white cleansing snow where words are swirling in a water globe and shook up to glitter our den world. Peace and love, health and happiness, Reg.
Gracious my friend, if I didn't know you so well, I'd merely review this piece as wonderfully written...which it is. But the underlying tone worries me to death. Please be in touch. Much love, Michelle
