I walk alone In the darkness Of a back alley With its garbage Cans, junk, and Garbage Strewn all over The dead leaves Of this year Which will soon be over.
I walk alone Under grey skies. Clouds and smoke Filter the lights Of the city with Its cars and people, Lonely souls in a world Running away from them.
I walk alone Searching the dark For a hidden hope, Groping in vain For some unseen link With certainty.
In the darkness Of daily existence Shines a light, A God-given hope. Love with its warmth Gives strength, And you Are my love.
SOME HOW, SOME WAY...'HE'...ALWAYS LET'S US KNOW JUST HOW MUCH HE LOVES US, AMEN. THIS AWARENESS IS ALWAYS SO RELEVANT AND NEVER GROWS OLD. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS
After reading the first stanza it seemed to be as if you had mistakenly used the word garbage twice. Upon reading the stanza again I realized that the first 'garbage' refers to garbage cans. Why then not have 'cans' on the same line as the first 'garbage'?
An emotional write as usual. You tell a moving story and make us feel every word. And you leave us with hope at the end of the piece. You also leave our minds wondering/wandering. Brilliant!
Man Regis you made me cry! These words have such depth and profound meaning, yet written with excellence heartfelt!
"In the darkness
of daily existence
shines a light,
A God given hope."
What a good read Regis!
I really do like this "solitary I'ness" type of view both agonizing in it's emotional simplicity and perplexing in who the hidden subjects are of your thoughts. Already, I see you are superb with the "one word title genre" as I call it. I didn't check you site to see if you have a book, but when you do, it's going to be brilliantly poignant (sp?) But we'll need the photos.
Beautiful poem.
You might be alone in your heart but you definitely are not alone in reality. You have your words to keep you company. You also have lots of people who care about you. All you have to do is read your reviews and you know this with certainty.
Blessings,
Judith
WOW, cool pic...excellent ending to 2003, sorry I seemed to miss all of your wonderful poems of late...thought I had you tracked, but...
Peace, and a belated Happy New Year, Ed, Rene' & Rufuz
Very beautiful. I was touched by this because I can totally relate...especially the last verse ...
"Love with its warmth
Gives strength,
And you
Are my love."
I walk alone
Searching the dark
For a hidden hope,
Groping in vain
For some unseen link
With certainty.
Regis...This one is exceptionally well written from the inner core of ure heart....you have penned a verse well worth remembering from the heart....especially the above lines are immortal....love n luck....BHUWAN

Hi Regis,
We are just south of Iceland, now that is lonely.
I will be glad to see dry land again, rubbish and all.
Nice one.

Very beautiful - sometimes alone can be a safe place too - especially if you know you are loved, even from as far away as beyond this earthly veil.
Reminds me of the Reverend Mr. Black ... right up to the end: then it becomes something else entirely. I think the last stanza should begin with something like "suddenly a light appears" or some kind of transitional phrase to lead into the last stanza.

Reminds me of a song I 'used' to like - "one look at you and I know that I could learn to live without the rest - I found the best." This is the perfect reflection of how lucky people feel in love. Good for you!

Great imagery here!!
I never really walk "alone"....I always walk with "Me" and "Myself"
by my side...you must try that....it's fun fighting with yourself and
their emotions!!
