Coffee on Connecticut Avenue
Blustery day
Winter cold exhales a last gasp
And inhales a slow surrender.
Growing weaker
With every exploding cherry blossom.
Weaker to your vision
Among ruins, I fell in love
In my silent solitude.
The misty rain gathers on your windows.
I can see you are lost in time
To season the broken pieces of your landscape.
Your heart stopped, but your still living.
In the laughter of my company
I see you growing strong in the sunlight.
Let me sacrifice none of your integrity
at the risk of being honest.
I will sow you into me and keep you warm.
Holding you up a hundred kissed deep
And dribbling down your spine in ecstasy.
After the last leaf has fallen.
When the snow covers the hardened ground.
When the birds stop singing to a merciless wind.
You can forget the winter solstice
That covers your heart.
Rest in comfort next to me
In the favor of cherry blossoms
Trickling sunlight in the earliest part of morning.
But, I am lost in my solitude
To the hands of embarrassment
And reduced you to the remainder
Of change in my pockets.
How can I put a price on a smile,
From the woman that poured my coffee,
On Connecticut Avenue.
and I was engrossed in it
really really sweet
