In the year 2011, I am 66 years young, and I have never been a pill-popper! I think this country is drowning in prescription drugs, which is an epidemic, and everyone has to decide for themselves how to proceed in the medical arena.

Article title;

Prescription Drugs; The #4 Killer in America

When I wrote this piece, I was amazed at just how many Americans kill themselves with prescription drugs in this country!  There's a line in the sand for everything...and I think American's have crossed the line...and insanity has set in for many people who take prescription drugs!

Why do you think there's so many cancers around that will never be cured?  All these drugs are big money for 'Big Pharma,' who make billions of dollars off the stupid Americans, who should know better...but they don't, etc.  I'm not anti-phamarmacy...I am pro-common sense.

The fewer drugs I take the better...and now that I have entered the Age of Old at 66, I am more cautious than ever, about the drugs I take

Constipation!  Not a delightful subject to talk about, right?  I wrote another piece on constipation in 2009, and that piece has sored in the standings.  I was reluctant to write it, because of the subject and the title which is;

Constipation; Saying Hello To a Costly Enema

With about 310 articles now on hand, as of December, 2011, this article is the one that shocks me.  This piece has quietly climbed the charts in hits/views to take the #2 spot and is challanging the leader!  I am amazed to see this...and it's not because I wrote it, or because it's good writing.  It's because there is interest in the issue of constipation.

Writing about constipation is not an easy subject.  But, I got into writing to help people any way I can...either thru my education and/or experiences I have had along the way.  In 2009, I was reluctant to write this article because of the subject, but I went ahead with it, and I'm so glad I wrote it.

All across the country, we hear of people dying of heart failure; kidney failure; liver failure; colon failure and on and on.  Why was there all this failure in medical?  Many people have stepped over the line of insanity with drug use!

When I was in the hospital recently, somebody pointed out to me, that there was a fellow that was taking 30 pills a day, which is outrages, in my view.  My ex-wife's cousin, takes about 20 pills a day, for one thing or another!  These people have stepped over the line of insanity, in my view.

I was in the VA hospital for a week, to have a pace-maker implanted, and I was in a room with three other veterans.  The veteran straight across from me, was having some kind of digestive problems, and I noticed that the nurse pulled the curtains and gave him two enemas during the week that I was there.  His face looked to be in agony the entire week I was there.  We never chatted about his condition.

I was in the ward for a week, and when I left, he was still there, and the agony was still there.  He was still suffering a week later.  My guess was some digestive problem.  Heck...people take so many laxatives; stool softeners; supposstories that it's no wonder...that a person will burn something in their bodies!

I don't think I have the F-word stamped on my forehead...FOOL!  I realize that I have to take SOME drugs...especially as I get older, etc.  But, some people have crossed the line of insanity, when it comes to taking drugs!  The more drugs you take...the more money your doctor makes.

I think one of the most important things in healthcare is to have an open mind...to change for the better.  I know what it's like for a person to have a closed mind...because my father had a close mind to medical and everything.  He was always sick of something, and I wonder how he lived to be 81.

Good healthcare has always been my #1 priority in my life...for without good healthcare a person cannot have a quality of life, etc.  Because of the dangers of medications and drugs, I am always trying to find a way to reduce my drug intake.  For example;

Metropolol:  A heart medication.  I used to take 150 mg. a day.  My doctor reduced it to 100 mg. per day.

Lisinopril:  Blood pressure medication;  I used to take 50 mg. of Tranzedone...and that has been dropped to 5 mg.  There have been times, when I have taken no blood pressure medication at all.  Want to know why?  Chiropractic!

Chiroprictic:  When I was a kid, I had a fall in the mountains and screwed up my neck and upper spine, etc.  Beleive me, I have suffered for it later, in the way of migraine headaches, high blood pressure and nose-bleeds.  During my worst years, I started with a chirotractor in 1976, that's when they were all known a 'quacks'  Today in 2011, you can see the parking lots full of patients.  People are tired of endless drugs that don't work; unesessary surgeries and no telling what else.  In those 35+ years, I have visited a chiropractor over 125 times, and it has been worth every visit.

A chiropractor is a specialist of the spine, just like others specialists...a dentist; diabetes; heart and so forth.  In 2011, I still go to my chiropractor on my willness play three time a year.  I haven't had a cold since 1992; nose-bleeds are a thing of the past; cold sores are in the past; regularity has been good; blood pressure is down, etc.  Chiropractors don't prescribe anything.  It's all in natural healing...but the patient has to have an open mind for the better...and patience is a must...it will take time to heal.

My problem with diabetes with diabetes, was sleep deprivation, and so I wrote an article on the subject, and by the way, this artlcle is in my Top Ten as well.

Sleep Deprivation and Diabetes

Metformin: Diabetes medication;  My doctor first prescribed 1,000 mg.  I found myself in the hospital with terrible constipation.  The drug was changed to 4 mg. of Glimepride.  The last three checks of my A1C; 5.9; 5.9; and 6.1 so I have the diabetes under control.  Years ago, I read an article whereby cinnamon was and is an enemy of blood sugar.  That was three years ago (2008) and I still sprinkle cinnamin on toast; rolls; cereal and whatever.  I think that is one reason why my numbers are so good.

I have been in the Intensive Care Unit because of medications on two occasions, and once in emergency room for 12 hours on one other occasion, etc.  Medications can be dangerous...and many people throw them down like they are candy!  These people will pay for it later...as they get older, in my view.

Acupunture:  Because I have an open mind to wellness, I will be trying acupuncture in 2012.  I want to find out what all this is about, while the rest of you drown in drugs...

In 2010, I have about two bouts with constipation and I don't like that, and I'me not going to take any more drugs than I have to.  So, I went out in the Internet and did a little research on constipation, to try to find a natural remedy, and here's what I found.

From:  Buzzle.com;
Almost each of us suffers from constipation at least once in our lifetime.  Constipation is a condition, in which the frequency of the elimination of feces is reduced to even lesser than twoic a week.  The feces are hard, difficult, to eliminate and black in color.

Ideally, a person should have one or two bowel movements a day.  Not eliminating the feces on a daily basis, can lead to accumulation of waste in the body.  Accumulated waste, produce such toxins, that can have harmful effects on the whole body system

There are many medicines, that are avbailable in the market to treat constipation, but still a majority of people prefer to use various at homr remedies or alternative herbal medicines, etc.  The resone behind this, is that long-term usage of over-the-counter laxatives, that are available, can constipate the person even more, as they tend to make the person dependent on them.  In order to avoid this, people prefer home remedies such as olive oil, to relieve constipation.

Olive oil can be quite effective for treating constipation.  Here are the benefits of using olive oil for constipation;

- Softens the feces: In constipation, it seems that the feces becomes very hard, and the person is not to elimnate them easily.  Regularly, taking olive oil, for constipation, propels muscle contractions in the intestines, thereby, stimulating the bile flow, and thus, softening the feces in the process.  Soft feces, unlike the hard ones, are easily eliminated, and hence, constipation is cured.

- Reduces intestinal dilation:  Olive oil for constipated babies, is extremely effective.  It is often seen, that babies are not able to eliminate feces easily, resulting in accumulation of stools in the intestines.  When this happens, the intestines dilate, causing stomach pain in the babies.  Due to this pain, the babies, hold back the feces to avoid this pain.  Regular massaging olive oil on the babies stomach, releaves the pain, and thus, he or she is able to eliminate stool.

- No side effects:  Using olive oil for constipation, has no side-effects.  Long-term usage of medicine can aggrevate constipation but olive oil is a natural oil, which is extracted from the fruits of the olive tree, hence, even if it is notable to cure severe cases of constipation, it will not aggravate the situation.

Two ways to use olive oil:

Cure #1;  When you wake up in the morning, take a table spoon of pure, extra virgin, high quality olive oil.  You can continue this for a few days.  If you still feel constipated, you can start by taking a table spoon in the evening, about an hour before dinner.

Cure #2; Another way to take olive oil, is to eat with some fibre-rich fruit or vegetable, such as an orange.  Repeat the same in the evening with perhaps, a fibre-rich vegetable such as broccoli.

In February 2011, I had a colonscopy procedure done, and everything came out fine...NO CANCER!  The initial report was fine, and the lab report that came back two weeks later, was also fine...NO CANCER!  I'm not a doctor, but I think one reason for this good report card, is because I try to limit the number of drugs I take.  (knock on wood)

Do you really think your doctor is going to prescribe blue berries; avocados; olive oil; cinnamon; chiropractic...you're a dreamer...and you've got the F-word stamped on your forehead...FOOL!  Doctors are in this thing to make money...that's why you see so many people at chiropractor's offices...they don't prescribe drugs...

Your doctor prescribes all sorts of drugs that you take...he or she doesn't have to take them.   Your doctor is rolling in dough...while you're on your death-bed, wondering what happened.  Someday, I'll be on my death bed as well...but it won't be from taking too many drugs...I will never have to say...'I coulda...shoulda...woulda...

UPDATE:  Christmas Day, 2011
Good news!  I have been cooking with olive oil for about two years, but I have never drank olive oil until now.  I had three constipation attacks, and one of them, put me in the emergency room for 12 hours.  At the age of 66 in 2011, I had never suffered from constipation until recently, so I had to solve the problem.  The week before Christmas of 2011, I started drinking a tablespoon of olive oil in the morning and at night before bedtime.

My first week, produced three bowel movements, and I had no problems otherwise.  There were no cramps; bloating; and everything went nicely...so, it was a nice Christmas present for me.  I'll keep this piece updated about every quarter, and let the reader know how I'm doing.
