"Or is it that the poet sees / More clearly the absurdities / As well as all the glories of / Experience..."

Poem Artwork

Transcendental Sonnet #1360:
Poetic Perspective

I know I write some very strange things

Is the world strange or do I just see
The strangeness of things as my life brings
Home to me special delivery
Fresh alienation to my door
As daily bread of reality
Causing me to ask if there is more
Behind the scene and what it might mean?

Or is it that the poet sees
More clearly the absurdities
As well as all the glories of
Experience our life our love
Lived as intensely as we do
As living torches me and you?

So True-But,I wouldn't want it any other way.. To see inside and be able to express feelings and thougts.. is such a Mystery. Being a writer -we can try hard to dicipher it. I love your Poem STeve.. Have a GREAT Day! Lady,Sheee

I do think that the poet does see things differently from others. It is a beautiful gift to be able to see beyond the obvious. You are so talented and your gift is an inspiration to all.

Such a perspective seems to be both a gift and a curse, taking one deeper into the heart of the truths of things while often creating a gulf of sorts between the creatively-inclined and those who are not so (or at least who do not recognize their innate creativity). For those who have experienced this enhanced poetic perspective, this is a very special write. Thank you.

Too true, we poets, writers and artists of most forms tend to the eccentric side of life and thought. NOthing wrong with that it is what makes life interesting for the poor imaginationless people.

A well-written piece Steven! Love the pic
too! Awesome writing as always! You are just too
good! We, the poet in ourselves, have an ability
to "view or watch" the world around us from up above,
like a bald eagle's sharp eye that can watch the ground
and see a mouse from hundred's of feet away!
(That is my next poem to be...)

Take care my dear friend. If you only were in Dallas, Texas visiting, I would show you what to see: Reunion Tower, JFK Plaza, Ft. Worth, Las Colinas Horses, etc.
Have a super night and fresh start of the morning for it is already Thursday in London. Be pain free today!

life is absurd in its mundaneness; artists as yourself are blessed with a 3rd eye, seeing the chaotic beauty underneath. excellent write, and great pic...

It is said that we, the poets, are very special people. Some of us poessess ESP. Yes, I do believe that we see things deeper, our thoughts are much clearer, our reasoning are much wiser.

Well, that is just my humble point of views.

A good thought-provoking piece, Steven!
