"Out in front of this house where the window / Looks on the future as the past would know"
Promises of Beautiful Things
My son stayed the night and then made the bed In the morning without warning Or fanfare no expectation of praise But just because it seemed it was The sort of thing one ought to do these days
I met his band mate last night and he said That I am just like an older Steve Lance Which is the name he and I share These days people often compare The two of us favorably I see As delighted I dive into this dance Which began if at all long before me
Young and old in the fall a November Pregnant with the promises of Beautiful things which we will remember Grown children with band mates who love Us as we are there in their car
Out in front of this house where the window Looks on the future as the past would know
'Promises of Beautiful Things' is beautiful poem Dear Steve!! I love the beautiful simplicity of your first paragraph ... and the wonderful love that is between you and your son ... father and son, clearly as One, yet individuals! He too would be proud to have a Dad like you!!

Wish I had someone to share my musical side with me.....but my boyes take after their father...not the talent of a rat in the musical department...lol!!

A Hard Day's Night (Beatles)... Steven, You've been workin' like a dog (Beatles line>>>I've been workin'like a dog)to raise your son with morals and values to shepherd the younger Steve Lance to the Promise of Beautiful Things. To compare a father and son favorably is the highest compliment of all. Sounds as if the two Lance men have made it, a positive evaluation in an otherwise negative father-deadbeat-dad-juvenile-delinquent son. Thanks for accepting the role of father. In doing so, your son will follow suit and raise good sons also.
So very true Steve and it is such a blessing to see our children grow up and if not totally understand us at least appreciate our differences and love us because of them. I also love the pic, brings back a lot of old memorries of youth.
