"A gram a day"

Poem Artwork

Thin Green Line

A gram a day
Keeps the madness away
My thin green line
Holds (and I stay just fine)

Popularity
Is a rarity
But if it happens it can be great fun

Every now and then
You never know when
(But save your soul for after it is done)

It happens to you
Sometimes when you do
Whatever you do the way you do it

Then somehow you find
Yourself on the mind
Of one in your life to help you through it

A gram a day
Keeps the sadness away
Our thin green line
Holds (and we stay just fine)

Though I never meant to be popular
If I were not I might not have met her
And it all just might have been different when
Somehow I found myself on the mind of then

But now I find myself on the mind of this
Anticipation of a long-denied kiss
The game is not over until someone wins
But it never starts until someone begins

Though I never meant to be popular
The thin green line holds (almost... as if... I were...)

The game has begun, Steven... so walk the thin green line
and wallow in the popularity that comes with a happy pen.
