for Franziska To read a poem of mine well Read it like a magic spell Not as something fancier than Something else not Lancean But fancifully danceably When you take a chance on me Sing it is what I mean to say Jump rope to it if you can Wake up the magic anyway Eyes wide open head unbowed But pray it say it right out loud With the authenticity Of other take authority Make glad your mad magician When you do then I can tell You read it like a magic spell Steven Curtis Lance
