Only sunsets end the day,
only sorrow comes this way.
Into blackness, into night,
into boxes locked so tight.
Fall to endings, fall away,
drift to corners of the room.
Bury tears inside soft pillows,
hearing weeping of the willows.
Wailing coming down the road,
mouths wide open in the wind.
Feelings scrape against my skin,
clutching every scar within.
Should all words be only lies,
or mere preludes to goodbyes?
Can't I melt beneath the floor,
and be gone forevermore.
Seems that falling knows no bottom,
as I sink inside my bed.
Consciousness my beastly foe,
while I scream, "Just let me go!"
Always,
Deborah
