Some Honky Tonk Lyrics for the Den.
You know the drill... hum your favorite bar tune. I like Georg's suggestion of Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash

Poem Artwork

I found my baby cryin’

One rainy afternoon

Inside she was dyin’

There was not much I could do

As I tried to console her

We got into a silly fight

I’m not sayin’ that it’s wrong

Not sayin’ this is right

She was always a free spirit

And I was never tame

All the time we were together

We learned to play love’s game

Closin’ down the Honky Tonks

Stayin’ out half the night

I’m not sayin’ that it’s wrong

Not sayin’ this is right

Somewhere on this crooked path

We both ran astray

We trampled on each others feelings

Then looked the other way

Reconciliation

Ain't no longer in sight

I’m not sayin’ that it’s wrong

Not sayin’ this is right

Twenty years of conversation

Now reduced to stares

That void inside her got so deep

She no longer cares

She found someone to turn the darkness

Back into the light

I’m not sayin’ that it’s wrong

Not sayin’ this is right

I wish that things were different

That I’d not been such a fool

Together we once had so much

Now the emptiness so cruel

I had it made but I let you go

I held on with all my might

I’m not sayin’ that it’s wrong

Not sayin’ this is right

I understand just how you feel

I accept that I’m to blame

There has to be something I can do

To rekindle that old flame

To get you back right by my side

And love you through the night

Please forgive me I’m sayin’ that it’s wrong

And I need to make this right

Georg is a musical genius! He is absolutely correct and it livens the pace, so it is a fun song and not a dirge. Patrick

Country music is the best but always leaves you on the sad side hoping for better days.
