I can hear the music for this, Patrick. It HAS to be roadhouse honky tonk with a pedal steel wailing in the background. It's the kind of song a youngish Loretta Lynn would make her own.

I'm sure you've heard the song, Jesus, Take the wheel. Just let him take the wheels of your life and straighten the crooked roads. This is a fantastic song/poem. Its a hit in my book.

As a non religious person and a non religious Jewish Person to boot, it never occurred to me to apologize to Jesus for... actually I have no idea what I would or should be apologizing for. Not, mind you, that I haven't done things throughout my seventy-seven years that I wish I hadn't, but they were of my own choice so there is nothing to apologize for. As for your poem, Patrick, as always a work of near genus.

yeah, Patrick, sincere and from the heart... I, too, have struggled with this attitude of which you speak... but the more I press in to really 'hear' what Jesus says to me about how much he loves me, how great is his mercy for me, how deep and long-lasting his peace, the more I realize that he forgives me so much, so why, oh why in the wide world can't I forgive... it's only a matter of pride that gets in the way anyway, and if we keep things in perspective, all that pride soon fades away... you've hit a mighty big nail with this bitter-sweet country tune, and I suspect the challenge for many is finding enough faith to accept the gift of God's forgiveness...

it is good to experience this type of contrition if it leads us to repentance and not grievous despair... whatever you do, don't let it take you there...

I got a good verse in the spirit the other day... Jude 2: May mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. That is my prayer for you, Patrick.

I could just picture you sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch with some lazy ol' coon dog laying at your feet. And oh yeah, all of your worldly possessions piled in the back of your pick-up truck. A true Country Classic.

Here�s hoping there's more poetic license at work here than biographical truth. I connected mostly to the second stanza. I think we've all been there and it seems no amount of remorse and no matter how heartfelt the apology, you just can't take back the sting of the words.
