My oh my where does time fly
Where was I in seventy two
Winter quarter was winding down
As I attended classes at MSU
A world away a child was born
Although I didn’t know
That in due time our paths would join
Into a family we would grow
I never knew your early years
Your teens we muddled through
As I learned to be a parent
Something I hadn’t planned to do
Your mother carried the heavy load
Set examples every day
By the time I had it figured out
You were off to college a coast away
A brief return then on your own
As your journeys then unfurled
With challenges and triumphs
As you struggled with the world
Many years are now behind us
Sunny days without a cloud
Lie ahead for us to cherish
Because you’ve made us really proud
Life has a way of working through
Reconciling the good and bad
I can’t believe you’re 40
Happy Birthday, Love, your dad

You and Alisha *Patrick* so well written
in your poem, thanks for the sharing!!!
