My life has been like

an open book

it's pages unfurl

as I look back,

the smiles

the fears

those broken years

which turned into

many day's of tears.

When troubles erupted

like a storm

home life disregarded

where was my Mum,

lived in the shadows

of south east London

with my Aunt

still cried

where is my Mum.

The the journey

to that place

those awful corridors

that echoed in your face,

a nightmare it was

but I saw her again

when you comming home Mum

I would say.

I hear it all still

as the years moved on

from kid to a boy

from boy to a man

two loves that walked

into my life

first Kathy

then Miriam walked into my life.

So those pages unfurling

still remain

the past has gone

the memories stay the same,

Mum she has gone

for many years

still I collide

with those tears.

Almost seventy years since page one

a sell by date somewhere

still to be found,

my own children all have their lives

and their books

their memories of life.
