It is with great pride that I make mention of the fact that February is Black History Month. Needless to say, this page alone could not hold all the names of the countless Afro Americans who have made meaningful contributions to our Great Nation, in all areas of society. However, there is one...whether we agree with his politics or not...that undoubtedly is a shining example of America's ability to produce the 'finest'. He is a credit not only to his country, but to the world. For he has achieved the 'impossible' dream; Barak Obama - The United States of America's first Afro American President. The first part of this tribute is for Him...the second part...is for two 'priceless' forerunners, who paid the 'ultimate price' so this dream could be achieved...in their children's life time. A great tribute to those who have helped forge history and are now doing so. I pray all will go well for our new president . He dreamed the impossible dream and met destiny head on......M
I was born in Vt and we had no racial boundreis there..When I cam south in the 60's , I could not beieve such things existed .I'm glad change came. It was sorely needed...

Beautiful tributes Joyce. I think it's a wonderful thing that the important African Americans and their contributions to society are now more recognized. We cannot and should not forget race for it is where we came from and what served to shape us but we can esteem all races as equal and that should be our goal.

God create Man and woman, He didn't said White Man, he just said Man. I too go bananas when I hear Afro-American, Latino-American, Italian-American and so forth...
We should respect a man for what he is, not his color or from where his great-great-grandfather came from.
Slavery is gone as Holocaust is too, let remember them with respect and not try to make a buck every time we name one of them.

Nicely done, Joyce. I have to be candid here, however. The one thing I have always hated about all this WHITE, BLACK, YELLOW, RED and whatever else controversy, is the way people want to refer to themselves or other people of whatever color. My ancestors came to America from Canada, but only those who migrated here were "CANADIAN AMERICANS." My Grandparent, parents and myself ARE NOT Canadian Americans - We are AMERICANS first and foremost. Why? Because we were born HERE and not in Canada. Since Mr. Obama was born in the U.S.A. then he is an American and NOT an Afro American or an African American. There........ I said it. Now, I'll probably get jumped all over for leaving this review. lol Whatever, I'm a big boy; I can take the heat. Either way; GREAT write, Joyce. May God bless.

"He is a credit not only to his country, but to the world." Amen, Joyce, I agree 150% with you. Some HATE, yes HATE the President, because he has PROOVED that an African-America is equal in all fashions, forms and abilities to white people. Well, in President Obama's case, I will rephrase this, he is better then some white people. I know for a fact he is better then our past UNELECTED President. I am one East Tennessee, Red neck Hillbilly who looks forward to voting for him to a second term.
