Twas the Night Afore First Christmas
and throughout all the earth
surely, no one was expecting…
Messiah’s... Birth!
All the world was asleep
0n a winter’s night so clear
as a peaceful tide watched...
a shooting star stilled in sky's spher
Then suddenly, Announcing His Birth…
lofty angels caroled…a joyous refrain
for there…swaddled in a barn…
Our Savior was born…Jesus, His Name.
Soon arrived…awakened shepherds…
and three wise magi…ventured too
adoring and witnessing…
God's Promise…had at last come true .
For centuries humanity did yearn
even some…began to doubt
but thus, the longing…was over
their…King…entered, in lowly clout.
Now, many question to belabor and argue…
the day and time …of believers’ celebration
yet these things are really so unimportant
as point is; He came…to save every nation.
Jubilation overflows... for Our Redeemer
it mattering not to us…the date, exact
but that…every heart should reach for Him
on day set-aside…to muse…Miraculous…fact.
Yea, A Love Unequaled …was revealed
thus, in homage unison, untiring…
on Christmas Day…across the universe
near and far, spirits knit…faith undying.
Lifting Him up…are grateful souls
embracing Him…with eternal mirth
while wishing we had a …thousand tongues
to render Praise for…Messiah’s Birth!

It is interesting that, especially when we are young, birthdays become so important that we have celebrations for them. But when we get to my age, and all family and many friends are gone, if not dead already, thousands of miles away and can only remotely acknowledge, birthdays don't really mean that much except the counting of time alive.
But for some reason, while Jesus, according to all accounts, didn't emerge from obscurity until he was around thirty years old, has a birthday that's celebrated even by people who aren't Christian throughout the world. And the celebration seems to get bigger every year and more commercial! But, when we get to my age, and all family and many friends are gone, if not dead already, thousands of miles away, do we really need rituals like this in order to be happy?
