The night has just fallen asleep

With the moon eye wildly open

Stars glittering from their hanging place

And the water waves smashing on the riverbank

I a poet, inspired by the night

Begins to inscribe a night so perfect

As my pen engraved all that is seen

My curiosity drew my eyes

And fixed it a couple walking down the shore

As they walk along gazing at each other

The waves repeatedly washed their prints

And by the looks on their eyes

Never before has love been more defined

Amidst this perfect night

A stranger walked toward them

Demanding all that they had

But with eyes of denial

The young man refused to give all but his wallet

With firm grip, he held tightly to his pocket

But the stranger, knowing that his time was up

Signified by the coast guard horns

Releases a trigger and was lost by the night

Slowly down the beach shore

The young man fell, with a smile on his face

And his hand still holding firmly to the pocket

As he fell straight down on the floor

An engagement ring made of pure diamond

Gently rolled out of his pocket

And with the last breath he took

He placed the ring on her finger

But death came knocking

Before he could pop the question

Goodbye, goodbye

Her tears kept on saying

And as she held the ring towards the moon

“Yes I will, yes I will”

She screamed out loud

Hoping that he could hear her answer

Before the clouds took him forever
