In Memory Of my Dad

October 26, 1998

Dad tomorrow it will be eight years

But that does not stop the tears from flowing

Tears of longing and time lost with you

And Dad I just want to tell you

You know what!!

Your great grandchild’s tiny body

Will be buried the day after tomorrow?

This month October

Will forever be a painful one

Too many dates to remember now

Birthday’s deaths and funerals

Grand father, father, brother and child

Oh Daddy my tears runs wildly

As I remember that awful day

I had to say my goodbyes knowing

Your eyes will never be seen again

Your life had ended a few hours later

While I was traveling back home

I was deadly tired and alone

I did not know till hours later

As I stepped into my home I just knew

When my phone rang

I knew your laughter was gone

Dad all I want to say today is

I love you Dad

And I miss you today

Tomorrow I will be by your side

The way I was next to your hospital bed

In prayer with our Lord

Because memories are still alive

Deep within my heart Dad

Oh Tinka, this really speaks to my heart. My precious Dad died last year and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him and wish I could spend more time just looking into his eyes and hearing him talk. He always gave the best hugs. Bless you as you heal, and I'm so very sorry for the loss of your grandchild as well. May God be with you and yours...Michelle

Oh my dear Tinka,

I can surely share your loss and tears on this one...for me, it will be three years in February, since I lost my father. I miss him at the strangest times.. Sometimes, I just sob unexpectedly.. I went to his grave on my [yes, October] birthday, Tinka, to say thank you for giving me life...even though death did not claim him, and those are only his bones awaiting the Rapture Call!

Thanks be to Jesus, we both know we WILL be reunited with our Fathers - and other loved ones - again one day.

A beautiful tribute, Sis, and I am so so deeply sad about your recent loss...you are in my thoughts and prayers always...how is your daughter faring now?

Love&Blessings to all, Rhonda

Kind of sad Tinks, me thinks. But at least you have loving memories of a good father. I have memories of a man that never cared or did a thing. Then when he died he left all his land to a cousin.

I the son of a dead beat daddy
he never did father sturdy
He left all his land to a cousin
knowing he had children that equal almost a dozen
I tried to give dad the benefit of the doubt
until the contents of the will came out
Again I feel all screwed
but my hate won't be renewed

A lovely homage from a daughter to her father. I am sorry to read of the sadness that October has now come to be in your good self and your family's life. We seek refuge in the everlasting arms of God's love to help us through, though the pain's still there to bring forth the tears.

This is so sad, but so full of promise, Tinka. October is a sad month for me as well, since my beloved Great-Grandmother passed, October 19, 1998. I have no doubt that the two of you will be reunited again, someday. Just as I am sure that every father would be proud if their daughters wrote such a fitting tribute to his memory.

Beautiful!

So much love here, Tinka...and a month full of sadness. I spoke with my Dad today. We don't speak often enough. He was grumbling about straining his back playing golf and how life isn't the same without that to look forward to...about diabetes and pacemakers and the kick when the implanted defib went off like a mule...and he's moving to a smaller office in his firm. Say's he still needs a space. In the process he came across a boxfull of pictures of me..says the oldest always gets the most pictures taken and someone should have them...might as well be me. The man will NEVER retire (do you think it's the wife 25 years younger?) I laugh when I think back on our conversation today and I read your poem again and think of just how much I have to be thankful for.
Hugs to you Tinka and the wonderful memory of your loved ones and especially your Dad.

This is so brutally painful... too painful to comment let alone write, and I don't know how you've managed it... You are stirling stuff, Tinka. A woman of sorrows and no mistake - yet irrepressible faith, humour and optimism as well. EVERYTHING comes out in your writing and your words seemed penned in warm blood on a writhing vellum heart. I am so, so sorry... I think I'm out of line with your words about his greatgrandchild... that seems impossible to me and I must have missed something tragic here... I hardly dare ask. Bless you, dear one... my thoughts, love and prayers are with you at this most distressing time. Your sentiments about his laughter being gone ripped me to shreds... You are one brave woman and may you yet be blessed and receive back of your locust years onehundred fold... yes, we believe in miracles, I know!! :)) xoxoxoxoxox K xx

Hold on to the dear sweet memories my friend and write of the good and the bad times just as you have. Let the tears flow for all the joy and sadness and write about it always. I am so glad to be the first to read this and God blkess you my friend for we all have lost a loved one and still they're memory will forever linger on.
