Looking for love in all the wrong places

as the coming of dawn finds its way
into the silence of sorrow’s world.

Seeking love in so many stranger’s faces
when all along the one who loves true
stands before you, heart in hand,
awaiting, with the hope that you will choose to heal.

Wanting to be real, but knowing not how -
there is a place for peace, and now one needs
be without light, without hope, yet still trying
to cope with the pain of hurt and heartache.

Needing to be surrounded by the beauty of His world,
yet surrounding yourself with the darkness
of this world, hoping that no one will notice
how small and insignificant you feel.

Caring about someone other than yourself
is foreign to you right now, how...you ask,
how do I learn to feel, how do I learn to be real,
and how do I know when I am doing it right?
