Bunnies & Eggs

Basically a poem of thought, it requires no answers for me. At my age I have all my answers but maybe someone else doesn't, who knows? Some people don't even want to believe in a God, they'd rather believe in scientology, which is basically nothing. Nothing from nothing leaves nothing. No bunnies, no Santa Claus, no fantasy, no hope. I'd rather have the bunnies than nothing. Happy Easter everyone.

Poem Artwork

Don't try and pull my legs,
I know Easter's not about
bunnies and eggs.
Christmas isn't about old St Nick,
it too is a trick.
I'm a person modest,
but I've got to be honest.
Why does man always portray,
a front on his holiday?

Some say Jesus and God
are one in the same,
but we worship both in name.
Who picked the cross,
to symbolize our loss?
It's a symbol of pain,
with Jesus' blood stain.
Adam and Eve starting,
the devil appeared as a
serpent in the garden.
Why he couldn't show up
in the red suit,
to present the apple fruit?

By now I'm scratching my head,
wondering why blood is red,
Trying to figure why I'm brown,
sometimes act like a clown.
I'm trying to figure about sad,
as I put on a front glad.
Why am I laughing,
when I should be crying.
Why am I crying,
when I should be laughing.

I hate to be blunt,
but life seems to be
one great big front.
If Jesus is God,
why did he show up as Jesus
to try and please us?
Then allow himself to die,

why?

So many questions and so few answers. I like to believe, it offers hope, rebirth, renewal for all. Interesting write.

Be safe,

One,

Some thought provoking questions you pose in excellent poetry: I think mankind invented the trappings because the Real was too fantastic to believe in....well done, in any event.

As to why He died: He did it because He loved us so much. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

In the words of Bob Marley, "We got ta fulfill de Book" As long as we believe, I don't think it matters if we believe that Jesus and God are the same or not; it is in the believing that redemption comes. Easter Bunny and eggs, ol' St. Nick, yeah it can be difficult to understand how those came into play...I wrote an Easter Poem a few years ago called "A Rabbit With Eggs?" that explains how that concept got all caught up with Easter and we all know about St. Nick who would bring gifts to the poor in the winter so that got Santa into Christmas. The important thing is that we don't celebrate those holidays if we don't believe in what they stand for. If people do, then that is when I have an objection. Excellent poem, Grady...lots of thought in this one.
Take care,
Sherry
