Saddam Hussein is dead. Will this make US and the UK a safer place to live in?
Saddam Hussein is the man who
Suppressed the opposition
Tortured political rivals
Killed the shi'ite people
Gassed the Kurds en masse
Yet after seizure by US Army
Crowned to be a great Hero
Through violece and terror
By the very iraqis he had abused
Who are now tangled in a bitter war
Based an ugly sectarian divide
With Saddam's death would they stop war
Or they have enough fuel for their terror factories?
Bush and Blair are the two boys who
Attacked iraq without a UN resolution
Using WMD as a cover up to destroy Iraq
Finding no weapons but blood and bone
Looting oil behind the huge dark smoke
Ignoring winds sweeping across the desert
With Saddam's death would they return home
Or the footsteps they should have followed
Are no more printed on the sands of time
Good thought-out points in this poem, Abdi-Noor. It seems greed for power and material wealth, hearts filled with unforgiving and mislead faiths are ever predominate in our world today. I view Sadam's death as another part of this madness. I would ask...Will ANY nation be safer because of his death? I think not.
We can only hold steadfast our hope of a better world with honorable people in leadership.

I have found myself avoiding all others who might have had some words to heal, but I avoid because, even though he was a horrific man who killed for power and pleasure, or whatever sick reason...I feel he was still a man.
"Thou shall not kill" There are no ifs, ands, or but's after His commandments so, in the long run, I feel, it will only come back to haunt them and eventually, probably us...by some other sickness!
Saddam was created in the image of Him, and he was known who he would be, even before he was conceived...Why not ask...What was it God wanted us to learn, rather than, plain flat out rid of him?
Now we might never know? Or had he been incarcerated to witness his country in a peaceful democracy, hopefully, oneday...I think it would have had a better impact on his soul and his people who will continue to follow him, even after his death!
How many more Saddams are waiting the noose?
Anywho...I wish you peace Abdi~ I wish you a year filled with hope and happiness, love and forgiveness...a must to be Blessed!

God help us all, Abdi-Noor. As long as mankind is upon earth, there have been wars and rumors of wars...and the Bible says this clearly that these are the end times. I pray for you and your family, my (((Brother))).
Dear Brother Abdi-Noor I can't remember who said keep your friends close and your enemies closer, tis indeed strange that so many are blinded by such long relations but don't see the true purposes of tyranny until it is exposed and smokescreens fall. I give you Grenada,Nicargua,Iraq,Iran,South Africa during aparthied,etc. Are US and UK now safer places? I think not as long as man continues to be smothered in madness. Peace where ever your can find it, love, blessings and gratitude for caring and sharing. May the coming year be better for us all. Grangran & Baba.
Saddam was tried, convicted and executed by the Iraqi people for his crimes against them, not for anything he might have done against the USA or the UK. Terror, as you so very well know, is not going to end anytime soon. You live in a country that is ripped apart by terror, and though leaders may be killed and regimes fall, terror continues. I hope that, at some point, life will be safer and better for the Iraqis and that they will have control over their own finances and future. The world is a better place without Saddam in power, but as far as terror is concerned, it will go on despite his execution. Hopefully his death will bring closure to so many who were affected by his despicable deeds. Personally I would have liked to see him chained in the center of the city and all who have been hurt by him allowed to throw stones at him. Death by stoning would have been more fitting, I believe, and probably would have promoted more healing and sent a much more powerful message. As it stands, Saddam was executed by the state; I believe Saddam should have had to face the people he had hurt and suffered as they did, while they took him down down one stone at a time.
Very deep write, thought provoking my friend. As a Christian I don't believe in the death penalty, solitary confinement would've served the purpose as Victor stated. But who am I one person in a sea of many opinions....

Is life a commodity to be decided by man? Life comes from God, the ultimate judge. Saddam should have been condemned to life imprisonment in solitary confinement. Saddam is dead his people executed and trialed him for all the above horrible crimes he commited. As far as is UK or USA a safer place. I do not believe we ever should let down our guards no where is the world soil safer.
I think we will not see a drastic move over those sands as to returning home. Thanks for posting this one. I wish for no one to be killed also for no more wars. Peace is a distant thing in the world. Man's hatred sees to that for the outcome of wars they battle and kill destroying each other.
