Cocktails of Emotion
The daily cocktail of human emotions
stirred ... olive of life--
mad, glad, good, or bad.
We’ve time ... be glad.
The glass overflows with sincere devotion--
iced, chilled with strife.
Crying, dying,
selling, dying-
the thick, red liquid oozes with commotion.
I am weak ... see?
How can that be?
Can you help me ...
soothe me with benevolent love, a potion?
Please, rub it in,
ply my thick skin,
love me again.
I’m not devoid of feelings! What a notion!
I cannot hide
the hurt inside.
Laughter—stuck—died!
Fill me to the brim with pristine emotions.
You are a part
of my dear heart.
Teach me loves’ art!

Note: I've never consumed alcohol but know of emotional alcoholics--those who would rather drink than face their problems. Pray for them, please, as I do. This is supposed to be 'in jest' but it truly, in the majority of cases, is NOT a laughing matter. No offense intended and no one individual is 'the object' of this poem.
