Poem Artwork

Concrete, Compassion, and Steel

The woman is wild

            as a storm at sea.

Smelling of Spring Lilacs

            and diesel trucks.

Fire burns in her eyes,

            abundant love in her soul.

Her compassion is strong

            as concrete and steel.

Myriads of lovers hung

            around her sacred neck.

Very descriptively tough. Deserves to be read slowly and absorbed like a good cup of tea.

Elisabeth nailed it, and there are many women who fit that description. When women began to come into their own the brought with them lingering thoughts of repressed isolation and when they began to assert themselves many men couldn't handle it and made themselves miserable because finally women were doing things they wanted to do, not suppressing them as society forced them to.
