Poem Artwork

A man's manners are a mirror in which he shows his portrait.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

DON'T DROP BY UNINVITED!

A magician mixed a potion, that hissed a greenish flame
Thru in salt and stardust, and hair from lion's mane
Heated by a soft flame, lit by his magic wand
It bubbled up an image.....from a world beyond

Poured drops upon a mirror, his fingers smeared some lines
Astonished as he watched.......his pattern change design!!
A face formed on the glass...staring back at him
Crossed it's eyes, with tongue stuck out, from a verdant grin

The magician smeared the face, and traced a different path
Once again the face emerged, with indignated wrath
It's texture heightened slightly...and soon began to rise
And suddenly a visitor was, right there by his side

She was taller than a bear cub, but shorter than an ape
Her hair was wild as the wind, her eyes an almond shape
Full lips now smiled slowly, as she peered up at him
Took the mirror from his hand, and smashed it into twins

Giving him the left piece, she held on to the right
She threw it up into the air, lighting up the night
He vanished in an instant, and then she did the same
With nothing left but traces, that hissed a greenish flame

MUUUHAAAHAAAA

Always call ahead!

Lady A, The magic is in your mind and pen. You are an excellent writer and this poem backs that statement. The lesson you teach is excellent. I will always remember not to drop by without proper notice. (lol) An awesome write with perfect flow.

OH YES!!!!!!! Woe betide those who dare disturb the "polishing up of the wooden leg and glass eyeball night" and who turn up when your wig's in foils and you've cucumber on your eyelids and hair remover on your upper lip!!! And especially if you forget to put your teeth in when you answer the door! Sassy, witty, clever, smart.... all the things we've come to expect and love from you, Anita. Clueless??!!! I don't think so!!! Any chance of a serial here, like Madame and her Ghost?! You'd have us all gagging..... LOL Kate xx

Lady A,

What incredible imagination, magical yet perhaps a message therein lies:

The magician smeared the face, and traced a different path
Once again the face emerged, with indignated wrath

don't play with life, you cannot not change what has been done !

Excellent write

Lady A - Simply loved this poem and the otherworldly images concocted by your spell of words.

I am just glad that my momma raised me to be a gentleman and behave in a manner that would not get me banished in a 'hissing green flame'

Anthony
