Reality Check

Love spins dreams in a coccoon of hope
but then reality comes along and unravels it all.

When we're immersed in a dream
we do not wish to wake...

Poem Artwork

I'm too tired to sleep,
too sad to weep
and my thoughts are as tangled
as the hair upon my pillow
I can't undo the knots
and don't want to try.
I keep asking 'Why?'
and come up empty.
Did you not hear the words
I offered?
Do you not see the hand
I proffered?
or has the distance
left you deaf and blind?
Do you look into our future
or do you look back on our past?
Nothing that is made
is made to last
And all that has remained
are the promises we made
when our dreams
were all that we could grasp...

Reality check!

If one doesn't follow their dreams, nothing is accomplished. That is the bold line drawn between winners and losers. Reality is knowing that you can, you will, and you have. There is absolutly no reason to settle for any less than you dream. Achieving one's goals and dreams is never without hard work, dedication and a few 'hiccups'along the way, but conviction and resolve are the true "Reality Check".

This is a wonderful and thought-provoking write Snuggs!!

"...too tired to sleep and too sad to weep?..." girl, you have got the blues! maybe the warm arms of a friend can cuddle you to sleep and peaceful dreams will gentle rock your soul.
This one made me sad too.

Thank you Chanti, for everyone should do a reality check every now and then, lloking at what they've had through life and what they could pass up. A great write.

So many times in our lives we wonder, what to do about this or about that. A friend once said, "When in doubt, do nothing." But that was never a good enough answer for me, for in doing nothing a piece of heaven may pass you by. I would always tell him, "Hey, I'm gonna do something, even if it's wrong."
Besides, he was a lawyer.....LOL

great write Chanti. causes one to reflect within their own souls and lives. time and destiny create reality that we know and that reality is served better with dreams such as our own. we cheat ourselves in situations were we are always asking why. well done.

always,

If reality has come and unraveled your dreams, then that means they're on the wind out there somewhere. Perhaps somewhere northeast of you, a little boy in China is being disturbed by your drifting reverie...he catches the threads and weaves his own cocoon...and so it goes. --Charlie

This tugs at the heartstrings like the tears of a young child looking up at their mother. So deeply moving that I want to reach through the screen to hug you and say all will be all right...this too will pass. If love is deep it often hits speed bumps but once over them things always level off.

When it becomes clear that reality and dreams will never meet, there is a sadness, a pain beyond comprehension. When it comes to love, the dream relies on equal effort, equal willingness to sacrifice and equal understanding from each partner. When one falls short the dream dies. It is in the mourning that we find ourselves. We find our own reality -

and sometimes it's more brutal than we can bear.
