Fugitive Thoughts
By John Herlihy

Are thoughts but clouds that will disappear in the air
When they have strength enough to lead us to despair?
Are thoughts just running water that seeps in ground
Fugitive impressions that linger, just to run aground?
Do our hopes gather up their forces as futile promises
Only to reflect the illusive desires of fledgling novices?
Do our dreams roam as mist through our yearning souls
Evoking the sacred mystery of life that the soul beholds?
Do our worries and fears trickle thru our bony fingers
Nothing more than a grain of sand that quietly lingers?
Are our sacred aspirations but a rosary of wooden beads
That only click through our fingers while our heart pleads?
Our thoughts know no justice, with only a moment to spare;
They make an impression, only to dissipate and disappear.

I THANK A BRILLIANT GOD THAT SOME THOUGHTS DO DISSIPATE AND DISAPPEAR...LEAVING SPACE FOR THE POSITIVE INSPIRATIONAL ONES THAT HANG AROUND A WHILE AND HELP OURSELVES AND OTHERS. ENJOYED, JOHN, THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH....JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Just as dreams, thoughts sometimes escape us. Both need to be logged immediately. If you snooze you lose!

Love ya!

I feel that way at times that my thoughts drift away on the air like a sweet fragrance that no one gets to smell. The only way our thoughts become tangible is if we act upon them before they disappear for good. I love your poems. They make me think.
