POETIC GEMS

As precious gems shine

Their inner glow sublime.

Dropped as ink from a quill

They sit on the page still.

Composed with great care

With feathers light as air.

Their perfume lingers a while

Their words echo their style.

Thru long years simmered

As distant stars glimmered.

So too their smile does glow

Infinite mystery to bestow.

Like a gem, they break apart,

Their light lodged in the heart.

Ahhh . . . I am reading "Double Tap," by Steve Martini which has its own poetic gem. Good read.

Though I sniffed, near and far, I never smelled perfume from a gem, poem or a star. But I did smell perfume from her… And she was very near, not far.

I think you succeeded in writing a gem of a poem.

I love the comparisons here. Many of my poems start out likew an old chunk of coal, but if I keep working on them, hopefuly they'll end up shinning like a diamond. Or so I hope. And I always enjoy your poetic gems. They always shine brilliantly.

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
