-- Undue Haste --

Undue haste delays the fruits of our love,

With feathers lost from wings of the dove.

Undue haste pretends our love to inspire,

Mere embers result from such intense fire.

Undue haste will rush our love to the fore,

To flirt and fumble as less rather than more.

Undue haste will shadow a light in the mind,

Soon lost in darkness with nothing to find.

Undue haste rushes to put wind in our sail,

Only to subside with the demise of the gale.

Undue haste sets love where it longs to go,

Only to realize things not wanting to know.

Undue haste may leave true love in its wake,

Caught in the speed of a wind it didn’t make.

Patience will put our haste in its rightful place,

So that our love can find faster its true st face.

Noble haste stirs our stone hearts to fire,

Flint of love aroused our hearts to inspire.

Noble haste gives courage to all the weak,

Peeling back the layers of all they may seek.

Noble haste rightly rushes love to the fore,

Gathering its forces to proclaim much more.

Noble haste will flood loneliness in the mind,

To die a natural death in what love may find.

Noble haste turns breeze into a wind of sail,

Love’s ship of state to ply swiftly in the gale.

Noble haste sets love where it wants to go,

Finally finding what it always wanted to know.

Noble haste will leave all hesitancy in its wake,

Caught in the speed of a wind that it did make.

Patience will reign in haste’s horses to a crawl,

So that all lovers can enjoy their love in thrall.
