What do we hear beyond the door

What might we see that lies in store

When I knocked on the door of hope,

I heard no reply.

When I knocked on the door of despair,

I heard a sigh.

When I knocked on the door of happiness,

I saw a clown.

When I knocked on the door of sadness,

I saw a frown.

When I knocked on the door of success,

I heard no fame.

When I knocked on the door of failure,

I heard my name.

When I knocked on the door of the past,

I saw only night.

When I knocked on the door of the future,

I saw only light.

Beyond every door an answer lies in wait,

Beyond each and every door lies our fate.
