-- The Sacred Refrain –
John Herlihy
In my dreams, I hear a soft refrain,
That falls on my soul as misty rain.
Whispers that sound, echoes return,
Spirit mystery inspiring me to yearn.
DA LEH MAA STAY NU DEE SHAY
Awakening, I feel a sense of peace,
Heavy lifetime burdens find release.
The rhythmic pulse of foreign words,
Soothe my thoughts as soulful birds.
DA LEH MAA STAY NU DEE SHAY
Why never heard such words before,
To fill my heart with desire for more.
Filling an emptiness that feels hollow,
Lending promise that feels hallowed.
DA LEH MAA STAY NU DEE SHAY
What the words mean, wisdom knows,
An uplifting effect on me clearly shows.
Sound with visible appeal of stained glass,
Filling inner thoughts with light to amass.
DA LEH MAA STAY NU DEE SHAY
The long vowels echo a lilting sound,
Mighty waves that have run aground.
Ships of state featuring a stately mast,
Mystical whispering into the wind cast.
DA LEH MAA STAY NU DEE SHAY
My loneliness such words to overcome,
Mystical solitude the world to overrun.
No raw forgetfulness the soul to injure,
Each remembrance the soul to ensure.
DA LEH MAA STAY NU DEE SHAY
The refrain uplifting without any haste,
Magical medicine with no after taste.
Spoken in gentleness as a wind chime,
Inducing vision to border the sublime.
DA LEH MAA STAY NU DEE SHAY
Repeated oft enough leads to a trance,
Every bodily fiber a blessing to enhance.
No need to still be set firmly aground,
As eagles fly, without making a sound.
DA LEH MAA STAY NU DEE SHAY
As a dreamlike presence lifted into air,
Sonorous as a psalm, deep as a prayer.
As nothing on earth with its own merit,
Dreamy, mystical, surrounded by Spirit.
Ancient saying, as a finger to beckon,
DA LEH MAA STAY NU DEE SHAY.
Encoded in wind as a forceful weapon,
DO LET ME SHOW YOU THE WAY.
