-- MEDITATION –

John Herlihy

Meditation

Does the drop the ocean feel

Does the ocean the drop steal

Drops allow the ocean to exist

The ocean but drops that persist

Meditation

The mind a drop in the ocean

Each drop as misty devotion

Into the ocean of spirit blend

A sense of infinity without end

Meditation

The drop small, a world of plenitudes

The ocean large, made of multitudes

A blade of grass mimics the stars

Earth interfaces with planet Mars

Meditation

The drops of conscious mind

Each one being unique in kind

Adrift on the ocean of spirit

Mindfulness of God to inherit

Meditation

The race of mind be stilled

The emptiness seems filled

The mind beginning to calm

Still waters a soothing balm

Meditation

Mind’s cup filled to the brim

In silence listen to the hymn

Rhythms of celestial delight

Ballads of the eternal night

Meditation

Signature of silence, quietude

Signature of soul, certitude

Reading the light of the soul

If blind, braille makes us whole

Meditation

A lantern in a deep cave

Pulsating as a mystical wave

Marked by indelible stamp

Aglow in the burning lamp

Meditation

Mind awakens in its twilight hour

Darkness within lit by star power

In depths, a sense of peace reclined

Our thoughts as angels of the mind

Meditation

The lotus blossoms in the stillness

The still lotus as a pearl priceless

In the stillness, the lotus peaceful

The mind’s eye gazing inward soulful

HMMMMMM...! WHAT A MAGNIFICENT GOD WE SERVE. HE WHO GIVES US ALL THE 'CHOICE' TO MEDITATE AS WE CHOOSE. AS FOR ME...I WILL WORSHIP HIM, THE GOD WHO IS CREATOR OF THE HEAVEN, EARTH, SKY AND SEA AND ALL THAT IN THEM IS. FOR...'HE WILL KEEP HIM IN PERFECT PEACE, WHOSE MIND IS STAYED ON THEE, BECAUSE HE TRUSTEST IN THEE...' THAT'S MY CHOICE OF MEDITATION. AMEN. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

I am fortunate to be able to meditate often. I use no techniques except stopping what I'm doing and generally, just stare out the window or just stare for a few moments and let everything on my mind go away except to reorganize while I just don't think of anything in particular.

It is so easy to do and frees me up from all of the detail that I'm faced with every day even though I'm supposedly retired. Maybe from forced slave labor, but not from my own desires and preferences.
