-- I Love the Rain --
John Herlihy
I love the rain
Mystical yet plain
From heaven hurled
Out of another world
Arrives in timid drops
Moistening the dry spots
Knows its own soul
My pieces made whole
Gives to us what it offers
As gold pieces in coffers
Wondrous indefinable smell
Of such freshness to tell
Colors our fickle mood
Rain makes some brood
Its pitter-patter I adore
Falling on roofs as a roar
Rain – I want some more
Torrents without a shore
All day the heavy rain pours
Washing clean the outdoors
In stopping, the rain still kind
Leaving a silver sheen behind
In dying the rain turns fine
Creating an aura sublime
Rising heavenward as mist
Ghostly mist the earth blest
Mystical and yet so plain
That is why I love the rain.

PS
How could anyone not love the beauty of rain after reading such refreshing thoughts as the ones presented here. I think this is probably one of my favorites, John.
