Entreaty
by John Herlihy
Purify my senses
That I may fully explore the world.
Clear my mind
That the mist may disappear.
Slow my mind down
That I may learn the art of patience.
Settle my heart
That I may experience a well-earned peace.
Polish my soul
That I may rid my shield of its rust.
Forgive my sins
That I may enjoy the fruits of mercy.
Untie my knots
So that the ropes will uncoil.
Increase my knowledge
That I may find wisdom in my ways.
Lay down my path
That I have a sense where it comes out.
Give me purpose
That I may see in advance my destination.
I make entreaty
That I may see the light.
To Your will I surrender
That I may enter the light.

I was going to title my poem yesterday, See the Light, but when I went to put it on my webpage, that url was already taken. I had already written a poem of that title. I had to work another hour and revise the poem a bit to change it to Discover the Light.
How you can write so many poems and not come back to this name title or subject is beyond me. I'm struggling with my few poems coming back more than too often.
