The Clarity of Mystery
by John Herlihy
One may wonder,
How mystery can be considered clear.
The simple truths of life,
In the folds of certain mysteries held dear.
Answers invisible to most,
In plain sight to the enlightened few.
Mysteries of mind as host,
Questions stirred as wind in a clearing blew.
When lightning strikes,
A mysterious clarity accompanies the fear.
When a firefly shines its lantern,
The clarity of its beauty draws near
When thunder sounds,
A mysterious clarity felt as hearts quake.
The sky seen as blue,
The clarity of this mystery our senses shake.
Life’s mysteries elementary,
Yet the clarity of the questioning feels right.
Lucidity as clear as darkness,
As the night clarified by moon and starlight.
Innocence found in childhood,
Evolves into the wisdom of old age.
There on the edge of existence,
Reading between the lines on life’s page.

He had a habit of taking long trips alone in northern Canada in his own designed kayak. When he returned from one of those trips, the formula was crystal clear in his mind and it worked, giving him one of the two patents he got for the company.

Some excellent word choices in this often challenging subject to analyze. Well done.
