A very creative and interesting poem, thoroughly enjoyed. What we see, hear, smell or otherwise receive by our senses, night or day, is processed through our brain before we conclude what is going on. Your short responses to stimuli, the split-second reaction of the brain interpreting what is coming in.

That said, I'd love to hear the call of the owl again. Probably one of the most recognizable of night sounds other than the wolf and the cicada.
