It don't pay to say too much.

One day something happened I don't know what it was My brain shortwired or something I know it's true because No matter who I talked to In everything I said I said what I was thinking I now wish I were dead My grama got a new hat She put it on and grinned She asked me how I like it Told her the salesman sinned My brother has a girlfriend He thinks that she's a prize He brought her home to meet me A sight that hurt my eyes My Uncle has a business He's quite successful too He thought I'd be impressed by His stature and his loot He gave me such a warm smile So suave and debonaire But when his rug fell off him I laughed I didn't care The next day when I woke up The curse was n'er to be A funny thing had happened No one would talk to me! I with it were true. I didn't know you had a poetry lisp!

You had me laughing and crying at the same time. Telling the truth is always the best policy, but it's no way to make friends and influence people. You nailed it with this one.

We are conditioned to go through life telling little white lies. We do this to not hurt other people's feelings. If you are a totally honest person you wind up with no one to talk to but strangers. Sad, but true.
