So much money spent on things!

Poem Artwork

Halloween is over
Thanksgiving's on the way
Then "Ho! Ho! Ho!"
From a field of snow
Up! Santa flies his sleigh

Valentine horizon
Hearts to Easter eggs
So many more
I just can't keep score
Still beggar sits and begs

We have so much to be thankful while others don't. The sad fact of life.

Nicely done, Jane. Such is this life/world. The happy and the sad. The good and the bad. Love, peace, and blessings to you.

There's a big difference between splurging on holidays (often spending more than you can afford) and the year-long sustenance of the poor in the streets.

I'm going to agree with what John said. It's hard to tell who's needy, and who's not. Sometimes, it's even hard to know which charities are legit. A great poem though.

An acerbic take on the inequality surrounding us, getting more dense by each day. Look for more to come.

Some people got nothing to celebrate,
and they grow in number in these

Yes, and some are professional beggars who earn their living that way.
I once gave cash to a sickly lady who had a big hat and a small child.
Then, at the end of the day, I spotted her skipping down the street!
She was laughing with glee as she counted her winnings with a BIG smile!
These days I give to ministries who help the poor get off their feet.
Then and again, I will offer a nice meal to the beggar in the street.
Some smile, others frown but at least I know what's going around.
We also help the homeless in many other ways, like giving clothes.
When you provide them with a hot meal and give them your time, it's so much better than giving them a dime. Amen!

Once consequence of living here in the desert is that I actually miss most of the holidays, but have holidays of my own, so I am also still in the poorhouse when all is said and done.

Oh my goodness!!! Please don't hasten the years for me. My eyes are blinking fast enough already! I can't keep up!

Great poem as per usual, my dear friend!
