Charles & Nicole…

Two of my best friends kids,

So cute they were in this picture from the past,

They both have grown, since this picture, so fast,

I try & I beg them to please don’t grow anymore, but alas,

Grow they do, seems so much they will, glad I am not a parent,

I would not be able to accept their changes,

Nicole dating and in high school, she can’t do that, I am her boyfriend, forever and for last…

Charles now older too, a black belt he does hold, can throw a football with power,

Every time he grows another year, it brings on to me, a definite glower,

But he is so smart and handsome, must look like his mother, that of a flower in spring,

For if he looks like his dad, my best friend throughout life, he had better get a mask,

Or a paper bag, for he should not subject the world, to the changes on the way…

But in all honestly, my best friend, his dad, is someone that I love,

Knowing him since we were eight, we did get together a bit late,

But since then we have never been apart, connected thru a bond that is more than true ,

Connected through our love of each other right from the start…

So hopefully Charles and Nicole will end their growth, but I know,

This will never happen, for if it could, they would be more upset themselves,

As they are like all kids, wanting to get to be an adult,

Once there, finding it’s not so great, they will wish they had waited,

Tried to tell them I did, but when do kids listen,

When old enough to remember, what those of us that were older, tried to tell them…
