More Memories from a Childs Point of View…

A childhood place, a childhood space,

Memories thought forgotten,

Caves of thought from age of ten,

Things remembered from way back when…

Snow on the beach, swimming in winter out of reach,

Watching the waves descend on our island,

Watching on TV with mom and dad the Mummers band,

Standing on the boardwalk at the height of a storm,

Spray blowing over us, waves breaking on the sand…

Playing a game, wondering if that barking dog is tame,

Climbing fences, few trees left on our island home,

Baseball games in empty lots, didn’t get picked, can laugh now,

Bikes our only means of transportation, other than feet,

Riding over to Avalon to play on the dunes, so high, wow…

Stuck out in the pouring rain, wet we may be our spirits still sustain,

New Years eve, mom and dad drinking champagne,

We are allowed out late that night to be totally insane,

Watching old movies, at Bracas theater, creature flicks, like Wolf Bain,

PT-109, the Great Escape, other flicks some with the duke, John Wayne…

Sundays to church with mom, to pray we don’t ever see the bomb,

Teachers tell us to hide under our desk,

Seems now a stupid mistake, better to hide in the basement,

There we might not need, if we could find, a replacement…

My god, Eddie M, me sweet... how you took me back. This is right up there with my fav's of yours. (Is one of those cutie YOU?) Tell, Tell! (smile) How I remember going under the desks and so much more.. BUT.. BUT.. it was your own personal memories of the ocean, the island, the waves crashing that made me leave my chair and soar with you... Sigh. This is just great! katy xox.
