Missing home a bit today...

Poem Artwork

Just Home…

How I so wish I could live in my hometown,

The expense of a home now is more than I can count,

Maybe in a tent they will let me live,

On the beach, somewhere, yes there I think I could survive…

Or maybe I can buy a boat and dock it in town,

I swear I would never act like a clown,

And walk around, would I with a smile, never a frown,

Sea Isle City, not very classy, definitely not world renowned,

But still it is the place I came from, the place I can a lot be found…

Written before have I about my little home town,

Wish when I was young I realized how nice it was to live there & around,

The town as it is now has lost some of the things that it initially had,

Me being one of those things, I should wear, of stupidity, the crown…

How much I do miss the sound of the surf coming in my bedroom window,

The smell of the salt permeating every inch of my home,

The sound of the gulls, early, awakening me like that of a farm rooster,

The smell of the clams washed ashore, more a stink, but still,

The ability to walk down on the beach and sticking my toes in the surf,

Walking the dog on the beach, him chasing the sea gulls, me laughing,

My time as a child there was so happy, maybe in my next life…?
