Lighthouses Gone Dark…

Was it mans lack of compassion?

Or was it a technological error,

Or maybe it was gods’ hand,

The reason the light did go out,

Like a flame in the wind of change…

Lighthouses now used to attract tourists,

A great idea, but they once did stand,

Out of necessity, their lights there to command,

Respect from the darkened ocean,

To warn off sailors of imminent dangers…

Electronic gadgetry now mans savior,

Forget they do about the past,

Sailors, of lighthouses did savor,

Power they did have of light and life,

Now a place for school children to learn,

Just how much they were an important lifesaver…
