Poem Artwork

Sometime in the 50s my life began,

Along this same beach my life ran,

Movies out over the ocean,

With every wave we could feel the buildings motion…

Meeting new friends each day that passed,

Finding money under the boardwalk we amassed,

Summertime was for fun quite ideal,

Never would we have given it up,

It had of our approval the seal…

Surfing, swimming and boating,

We had this as others were gloating,

To be someone you had to have a boat,

A surfboard we carried everywhere,

Lived but a few feet from the sea,

Our ocean, our lives for those like me…

Home is where we find warmth, comfort and love.
'Tis a place where we are always welcomed.

Love & Light,

The 50s in America was truly a wondrous time - no matter where we lived. And I miss those glorious days, too, my friend.

I was born sometime in the 50s too, then came the Pipeline, Jan and Dean, The Vengers with Wipeout and the Beach Boys. And Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello and James Darren in the Beach Blanket Bingo and bikini movies. Of course I didn't find out what Hang 10 meant until my early 40s. Five toes on each foot hanging off the surfboard. Find some black gummed picture corners (yes, you can still find them at Walmart) and tilt this picture in your scrapbook with a caption under it. Have Rufuz lick the picture corners for ya. Reminiscing about the good Old Days brings back a lot of memories for me too, only in the country of pines and tobboganning down a steep, steep hill on top of an an old car hood. Great fun. Thanks Ed, for the stroll down memory lane.
