Poem Artwork

Relaxed I felt when with her I was the captain,

Days filled with sunshine and breezes off the sea,

Work she did need, to a small degree,

But that day above was wonderful, I am sure Rene’ would agree…

We cruised that day the Delaware bay,

Passing few others on a picture perfect day,

Was the last time on her did we cruise,

Not long afterwards on her trailer she spent the winter,

The thought of that day while nice, brings to me the blues…

For her last time in our possession,

She kept us afloat as was her profession,

Past the Coast Guard base on the cape,

So many other sites and sounds no longer will I hear,

Yes she was sold, contributing possibly to that of my present depression…

But, someday…

I bet you do miss her; I truly miss mine - and she was stolen. One day, my friend, we will both get new mistresses of the open water.

Depression is not a funny thing.
It was in acceptance of not seeing my son that indeed I did overpower
depression. Along with much prayer, support, and of all things writing on here, unraveling such inner pain. Reading and hearing of real people having similar situations, thus not feeling isolated.

Yet losing everything else, home, possesions, trappings and homelessness, just meant the only way was up...
Onward and upwards Eddie boy. Keep yer eyes forward...

River of Memories: An Appalachian Boyhood by David Thompson

For a time, I perched myself on a flat rock, comparing my life with the Guyandotte River. Just as its tributaries replenish it daily, changing it in some small—sometimes great—degree, so have the day-to-day occurrences of life changed me. Like the ri
